Inexpensive Homemade Gifts

I have been racking my brain, trying to figure out what to make for teachers this year...then I found a great Youtube video from Rachel aka Scrapeahappy. She showed a fun way to make a card that fits a bottle of lotion and even demonstrated how to gift wrap it. Here's the video for it, you have to check it out :)

I knew that this was exactly what I wanted to make. I bought Suave lotion at Walmart for 98 cents each but when I made the first card, it was too tall for the card on the video, so I altered the score lines to fit the bottle.

I used my Daisy D's "Paisley Sugarplum" paper stack for all of the paper except for the Kraft Cardstock and the Kraft polka dot paper which is from DCWV. I used a Martha Stewart snowflake border punch for the bottom edge of the card flap. The snowman stamp is from Hampton Arts (I got it at Big Lots last year) and I altered the ovals to fit the stamp on my Gypsy (another reason that I LOVE my Gypsy :) I used George for the plain oval and Lacy Labels for the Scalloped Oval.

The bags and filler are from the Dollar Tree. I cut the tags for the bag from the Sweet Treats cartridge, it's my favorite cartridge for tags.

I plan on just giving the lotion to my coworkers but I'm going to include a gift card in the teacher gifts.

Christmas Cards

Hey everyone! I know it's been a long time since I've posted but I'm hoping to get back to blogging :)

I wanted to post the video of my Christmas cards. I've made a lot of different versions of this card for Christmas, just using different papers. It's super easy to make and doesn't use a lot of supplies so it's perfect for this.

Winter Layout for My Pink Stamper Challenge

Robyn, (My Pink Stamper) posted a challenge to make a winter project on her blog and I decided to join in on the fun. I just purchased a new sketch book..."Sketches for Scrapbooking, Volume 1" by Allison Davis and was eager to use it. I love it! Not only does it give you the exact dimensions for paper and photos, it also suggests what type of paper to use (small patterns, large patterns, striped paper, etc.). If you're interested in purchasing one of these books, you can buy them here. I am not being paid to say this, I was just super impressed and wanted to pass the word along :) I will definitely be buying the rest of the books over time.

I used a sketch from the book for this layout...

The paper is from last year's DCWV Christmas stack, the snowman stamp is from Inkadinkadoo and I used Prima pencils and gamsol to color it in. The metal snowflakes are from Oriental Trading, and the letters are Thickers. The metal tag is from American Crafts and I used my I-Rock to place the gems on the page (Love it!)

A Stamped Flower Card

I was sitting in the house trying to soothe my sunburn last night so I decided to make a card (which always cheers me up :)

I used an Autumn Leaves Stamp Set for the flower stamp, the My Minds Eye "Home" Glitter paper stack, an Inque Boutique Thank You stamp, Martha Stewart ribbon, the Bow-Easy, and Close to My Heart Cocoa Ink.

A ladybug card and video

So I was sitting at my scrapping desk today, admiring all of my new goodies and just had to make something with them! So here is my creation. I used my Gypsy to alter the ladybug from Just Because Cards Cricut cartridge...instead of circles on his shell, I used hide contour and made them hearts to match the patterned paper.

Have I mentioned how much I love my new Gypsy?! My mind is spinning with all the possibilities and creations to make with it. Stay tuned :)

2 more Gypsy cards

I am having a blast with my new Gypsy...I just can't seem to put it down! Today I made 2 fun cutout cards. I used Gypsy Wanderings for the cherry card and Cherry Limeade for the bird card. I tried to make a video demonstrating one of them but my video program wasn't cooperating.
